we are not sure what it was used for. that's what chp is just telling us. this could cause big delays for people heading out of town for the labor day weekend. if you are heading to monterey, carmel, we are not sure when they are going to be able to open those southbound lanes. could likely be a while and again all traffic is being detoured right now off of the freeway off to airport boulevard. so we'll continue to watch that hopefully bring you some live pictures during the traffic cutins during the "cbs early show." quick check of other areas. in concord southbound 242 approaching grant street. we have an accident and traffic is jammed from highway 4. out to the bay bridge toll plaza, a bright spot where it looks great heading into san francisco and no metering lights. >> sunshine at the beaches but fog moved onshore. that's a cool looking shot. you can see the sunshine in the distance over the bay but the fog is creeping in at the coastline. that temperatures will drop off in the bay area through the holiday weekend. probably below normal. toward the mid

that means if anyone wants to give to help us recover after an event, we want to be able to use those resources immediately without having to figure out what to do with them. we noticed it today with the incident that happened in san bruno. when folks wanted to give, we were doing a little bit of scrambling trying to figure out who to tell to do what. the idea is we have those systems in place for post- disaster recovery. these are the areas of the recovery initiatives, and you have seen these all before. we wanted to make sure we had a sense of all the things that needed to be done, so we had 80 projects that need to be done in nine areas, and i wanted to give you an update about the most recent milestone. one of our big programs, which is very unique, is the post- disaster financial management cost recovery program. the key to successful post- disaster recovery is money. we need lots and lots of money. i try to figure out what to do with that money. so the controller's office has taken a major leadership role in the area to make sure we are better prepared for the money. these are s

thanks for joining us. i'm eric thomas. >> kristen sze. following breaking unless you in the east bay. abc just confirmed the bodies of two missing women found in vallejo this morning are connected with the man who died in a shot without with the chp. that's where we begin our team coverage with terry mcsweeney. >> the third and fourth bodies found in vallejo overnight are tied to the same person gunned down by the chp here in richmond bringing to four the total number of murders tied to this man. one person still missing. and all of this tied to the suspect in the case 38-year-old efren valdmaro from hercules. a high-speed chase reaching 100 mph at times. it all started when pleasant hill police spotted him on the freeway, the chase began and ended here in richmond. he was chased in the first place because he is the prime suspect in the murder of 73-year-old sails in hercules last friday. officers shot and killed valmoro. in his car another body was found, valmoro's girlfriend. she had called police to say she had been found kidnapped. sh

pretty much 50s for the rest of us. the monterey bay it's warmer than yesterday with low to mid-50s even into salinas and 47 into gilroy. warmer than average weather today under a sunny sky and nearly calm condition. a little breeze here near the bodies of water but not like we would normally have. it will be clear and relatively cool tonight. another key to the forecast that during the overnight hours at least will get a chance to cool off and get a breeze through the house or apartment. the water, the 50s. high pressure starting to move to the east bringing us the calm conditions and eventually the offshore flow. with that strong ridge developing, we'll see the temperatures jump every day through about monday. for today mid to upper 80s down in the south bay with cupertino and santa clara at 86. los gatos we could get up around 90. on the peninsula low 80s. millbrae at 82. everybody else mid-80s with 84 redwood city, menlo park. as you head south to mountain view, low to mid-70s along the coast with plenty of sunshine
